Movie watched-Paa

This Sunday evening I was sitting in front of TV browing channels and I saw an add about next movie 'Paa' at 5.30pm starring AB Sr and AB Jr on Star Plus. I wanted to watch this movie when it released in theatres but somehow could not. This time I decided to watch the movie.

The introduction of Auro itself was so natural and touching that I was getting emotional. Amitabh brought tears into my eyes with his splendid performance. It was a perfect casting of both the ABs. Vidya Balan also gave terrific performance as mother of Auro. AB Jr as young MP somehow resembled like Rahul Gandhi with spectacles and political attire.

The music of Ilayaraja was outstanding as ever and smooth to the ears. Since this is an emotional movie, Violin was used extensively for back-ground tracks. He created fusion by mixing roman and indian music in this movie. After Ilayaraja, I can see only one music director who uses Violin to such an extent is MM Keeravani (MM Kreem).

Finally, it was an excellent movie and I watched the entire movie (including long ads during breaks).

My first interview experience - so funny

I still remember my first interview. Let me tell you the background of it before going on to the Interview section. I was working for a small organisation in Hyderabad in Sales department. I had friends called Madhu, Nagoji, Rajasekhar and others. Madhu was working with our Company MD on planning, me and Rajasekhar with Sales and Nagoji into Finance. Madhu was very ambitious guy and always use to talk high. Whereas we were kind of lazy and just happy guys. One day Madhu applied for a job with a company called Zuari Cement Ltd (a div of Zuari Agro Chemicals Limited) and surprisingly he got a call for interview at their manufacturing facility in Cuddappah (now Kadapa). Infact he asked us also to apply, but as I mentioned, we were more busy with other extra curricula activities. He was thrilled and went for the interview. We did not bother much. We did not hear from him for three days and we were tensed, as we know that Kadapa is known for rivalry, faction etc.

Finally he landed after three days in Hyderabad with all his face glowing with happyness. As the proverb goes 'face is the index of man', we understood that he got selected with double salary. He submitted his papers and was leaving to his new work location in 1 week's time. He advised us also to apply as there are some more opportunities. We (Myself & Nagoji) applied with our updated CVs, thinking that whether we are selected or not, can atleast visit the cement plant because the company is reimbursing the train fare :) . Fortunately we got shortlisted and story repeated like Madhu. From here the real story begins......

From Hyderabad we went by Rayalaseema Express and arrived at Yerraguntla Rly Stn (4hrs from Tirupathi) at 4am. Madhu came to receive us at Rly station. We went to the close-by company Guest House (we call it Bhoot Bangla). Around 7.30am, factory bus arrived and we boarded the bus to go to plant. Our interview was at 9.30am. Since we do not have anything to do, myself and Nagoji walked around the factory quarters, park, school and temple and went into the HR department at 9am.

You wont believe we waited there in the department till 7pm, simply sitting and talking to each other. There were around 10 guys for the interview. Meanwhile there were some forms given to us to fill. Most funny part is ...there was an Office Boy (about to retire) called Chandrayudu. He was going on serving us desi chai every hour without asking him.

Finally the interview panel started calling us inside and my turn came. One executive asked me 'what are the three golden rules of debit and credit', I answered two, last one I could not and tried justifying myself shamelessly saying that I read this about an year back. Around 9pm all the interviews were over and they sent 6 guys back and asked me, Nagoji and two others to stay back for next day.

We were provided with conveyance to go to Bhoot Bangla. We went to Guest House, had dinner and slept. But that building was so horrying that even today while writing this blog, i had goose-bumps.

Next day, we again went to HR Department for second interview at about 8am in the company bus (there is no other conveyance other than factory bus for employees). Again the obedient Office Boy served us Chai pe Chai....it was around 3pm, they called me and Nagoji for HR interview. Meanwhile, this story takes a turn. At about 1pm our good friend Madhu because of whom we applied here, came running to meet us at the office. We were shocked when he said, he is going to his hometown (vijayanagaram) in the evening and will not come back, as he got appointment letter from SBI to his home address. It seems his mom called him and informed. Sometime before he wrote Bank Officers exam. He also said dont inform any one about this as he will be absconding without notice. After that till date I have not seen him. In contact only through mail. Its almost a decade. Finally we concluded 2nd round of interview with salary and other issues. Final round was with the factory President (Mr O P Jagetiya) in the evening 5pm. Nagoji and other three got rejected and I went upto final interview. Nagoji also left after the interview wishing me 'all the best' and I was alone. Here in Hyderabad my Dad was tensed as I did not come on the second day also. I was also tensed about the final interview with President.

Finally, at around 6pm they took me to the President's cabin alongwith Appointment Letter in the hands of HR Head. It was another shock....President was very busy with meetings (his Secretary told the HR guy). Somehow HR guy could able to take few minutes and went inside taking me also. Jagetiya looked at my letter said, 'are you from Hyderabad?' I nodded my head. He immediately said, 'OK...I am also coming to Hyderabad tomorrow...lets meet in Hyderabad and then discuss....take our office address from my Secretary'.....I was so frustrated...but cant do situation...so came out...saying thank you.

Somehow reached to Bhoot Bangla by 6.45pm. The train to Hyderabad was at 7.15pm. Immediately dressed, packed my bag and started to Rly Station. Mr President was also at the station.

Next day morning reached Hyderabad hoping for success at final interview on the same day. At about 11am, went to Zuari Office at Somajiguda and met with President for 15 mins. He spoke very well, explained about the company, project plans etc and finally handed-over the Appointment Letter.

I was so thrilled and happy receiving the letter and forgot all the pain which I took during the Interview phase and surprisingly spent 6 years in the same company.

We three friends are still in touch. Madhu with SBI, Kharagpur, Nagoji with Department of Marine Technology, Goa and Rajasekhar with Microsoft, Hyderabad.
